Our community sadly lost a great friend and family member on Monday, June 23, 2025, when Robert W. Anderson quietly passed away after kidney issues and a relapse of cancer. He was surrounded by loving family when he said, “I’m going to meet Jesus before you do.” He was 93 years old.
Bob was born in Beverly, MA, and lived most of his life in California. He loved music and began trombone lessons while in High School. He served 5 years in the U.S. Navy, attended the Navy School of Music, and played in the Navy Band where he had the honor of marching at President Eisenhower's inauguration in Washington D.C. He joyfully played in church orchestras for many years until his eyesight began to fail.
Bob spent many vacations camping in his younger years and loved visiting the national parks in our great country. He enjoyed playing board games, especially Joker, with friends, and he is probably looking for someone to play Hand & Foot with in Heaven. He also enjoyed a good game of golf and achieved his first Hole-in-One at 87 years old!
Bob had a strong faith and values and did everything with honesty and integrity. He had a long career in grocery store management. He was admired by those who worked for him and with him. He and Joanne spent many years serving the Lord in their church or wherever needed. They were best friends for 54 years, maintaining a sweet love relationship.
Bob’s sudden passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many others whose lives he touched. He is survived and missed by his wife, Joanne, and their blended family of 4 children, 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren (with another on the way) and 2 nephews.
A committal service for Robert will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, CA 92518.
