Robert Harold McClelland

Robert "Mac" McClelland, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on May 6, 2023, at the age of 90. He was born on January 9, 1933, in Santa Ana, California, to his parents Ralph and Lillian McClelland. Mac was married to his loving wife Jean for 58 years and was a devoted father to his three children, Kirk, Kristin and Kevin.

Mac graduated from Newport Harbor High School in 1950. After graduation, he served in the Army during the Korean War. In 1962 he graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and went on to work in the construction industry for over 50 years. He had a passion for building and was known for his exceptional skills and attention to detail. His dedication and hard work earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues.

Mac had a zest for life and loved to push himself to new limits. He was an avid adventurer and enjoyed racing hot rods, boats, and motorcycles. He also loved to fish in Panguitch, Utah, during the summers and spent countless hours exploring the great outdoors in the Mojave Desert. Mac was a true jazz enthusiast and had a special place in his heart for the music of Miles Davis and Dave Brubeck to name a few.

In his later years, Mac enjoyed spending time with his wife Jean as they traveled across the western states in their RV. They had a particular love for the mountains of the Sierras and Southern Utah, spending many happy days exploring its sheer beauty.

Mac was also a proud grandfather to six grandchildren, who adored him and will cherish his memory. He was a kind, generous, and loving man who touched the lives of everyone he met. Mac will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, love of life, and unwavering commitment to those he loved.

A celebration of life will be held on June 10th at 2:00PM PST at Fairhaven Memorial Services 27856 Center Drive, Mission Viejo, CA 92692. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
