Alden Eugene "Dewey" Douglas Jr.

Alden Eugene Douglas, Jr., passed away peacefully at his home in Mobile with his family at his side, Oct. 18, 2016, at the age of 63 after a fierce but brief battle with cancer. His family finds comfort knowing he is with his Heavenly Father. Dewey, as he was known to his family and friends, was preceded in death by his father, Alden Eugene Douglas, Sr.; his sister, Ellen Douglas; and his son, Christopher Alden Douglas. Dewey is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sharon Cartee Douglas; daughter, April (Brent) Miller; son, Jared (Amy) Douglas; grandsons, Caleb Winstead, Noah and Kipper Miller; granddaughter, Krislyn Douglas; mother, Teresa Douglas; brothers, Kevin Douglas and David Douglas; sister, Kathryn Douglas; other relatives and friends. Dewey is remembered by his family and friends as a man who always gave more than he took. He led by example when it came to helping those less fortunate and instilled that same belief in his children. Dewey was retired from AT & T after 35 years of service. He lived life to the fullest and had an infectious laugh that will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Friday, October 21, 2016, at 12 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, October 20, from 5-8 p.m. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
