Andrew Holmes died suddenly on Saturday, November 15, 2025. He was a native Mobilian whose parents, Nick and Nancy Holmes, shared an interest in archeology with him. He spent many years in the family’s architecture firm and retired to pursue his interest in the historic and lost village of Mauvilla.
Andrew was an accomplished blues musician and his band, “Elmo and the Bluesmen” played locally for many years.
Andrew is survived by his sister, Mary Emilie Acklen (Andrew) and his nieces, Clara Holmes (Eric), Kate Salsman (Micah), Emilie Armstrong (Tim), and his nephew, Christopher Acklen (Kristen). Memorial plans will be announced at a later date.
