

Anna Russell Jackson Williams, age 95, a native of Pulaski, TN, and resident of Mobile since 1946, passed away on October 5, 2016. She was the daughter of Clay Smith Jackson and Iva Rena Kincaid Jackson, of Pulaski, TN, and was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Leslie Clement Williams; a brother, James Jackson, of Nashville, TN; a sister, Mary Todd Franklin, of Sparta, TN; a brother, Joe Jackson, of Bradenton, FL; and a sister, Norma Tidwell, of Cartersville, GA. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Jeanne Williams Phillips of Malibu, CA, two sisters, Jane Williams of Anaheim, CA, and Barbara Bledsoe of Pulaski, TN, son-in-law William Phillips of Malibu, CA, brother-in-law Joe Bledsoe of Pulaski, TN, brother-in-law Dewey Williams of Anaheim, CA, and three generations of nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Giles County High School, Pulaski, TN, from David Lipscomb College, (cum laude), Nashville, TN, attended Abilene Christian University, Abilene, TX, and graduated from the University of South Alabama on the Dean’s List and as a President’s Scholar.
She served as Librarian and Information Director of the National Cotton Council of America in Memphis, TN, as a Loan Processing Officer of First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Mobile, Secretary to the President of Title Insurance Company of Mobile, Secretary to the Executive Director of the United Fund of Mobile County, Executive Secretary of the Community Chest and Council of Mobile County, and as Department Secretary of the Department of Family Practice at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine, and Executive Secretary for Senior Citizen Services in Mobile..
She was an honor graduate of Giles County High School where she lettered in basketball for four years and served as team captain for two years. She was selected by her class as the “Best-All Around Girl” and received the faculty medal for “Most Outstanding Graduate.” At David Lipscomb College she was selected “Favorite Freshman Girl” and May Queen and at Abilene Christian University she was named the Junior Favorite Student. She served as Secretary of the La Sertoma Club of Mobile for three years and was a teacher of primary grade Bible classes for many years. She was a long-time member of the University Church of Christ.
Visitation will be available from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Radney Funeral Home in Mobile on Friday, October 7, 2016. Visitation at the Bennett-May Funeral home in Pulaski will be from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 9 with interment in Giles Memorial Garden in Pulaski, TN., to follow.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the University Church of Christ, 5651 Zeigler Blvd., Mobile 36608. The family wishes to thank the many church members, neighbors, and friends who provided needed help and assistance to her in her latter years, as well as her doctors, nurses, and caregivers who cared for her so skillfully in her last days.
