

Barbara Martha Labbé, 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Wednesday, October 30, 2024, in Mobile, AL. She was born on May 2, 1933, in Belize City, Belize to Richard and Laura Baber. Barbara was fondly called Cha and beloved by many friends and family. She spent her childhood in Belize with her two sisters (Diana and Laura) and five brothers (Richard, Bruce, Will, David and Steve). After graduating from St. Catherine Academy, Cha moved to New Orleans, LA. where she met and married the love of her life, George Dupre Labbé. Cha and George settled in Mobile, AL in 1986. Cha was a homemaker, a master seamstress and worked as a secretary, mostly in medical settings. She and George were active members of Holy Name of Jesus parish in Mobile. Cha volunteered in the Catholic Hispanic ministry. Since 2019 she attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Cha earned an undergraduate degree in Spanish at the University of South Alabama. In retirement and later as a widow, she enjoyed many years of traveling, sewing, gardening and spending time with her grand and great grandchildren. She is survived by her brothers Will Baber (Virginia), David Baber (Ginoris) and Steve Baber (Charlene); her two daughters Elise Labbé-Coldsmith (Bruce) and Barbara Labbé-Gaddy (Dennis); her grandchildren, Andrée Comiskey, James Cosmo Comiskey (Melissa), Rachel Ruttley (Dave), Leon Ruttley (Skye), Calley Coldsmith and Ross Coldsmith and great grandchildren, Blaise, Knox, Orion, Ogden, Finn, Challie, Cormac and Fern. Services will be held Friday, November 8, 2024, at Pine Crest Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1939 Dauphin Island Parkway, Mobile, AL, 36605. Visitation will open to the public at noon, followed by the funeral service and burial at 1:00 pm.
