

Mrs. Bettie Weldy Smith, age 75 native of Vinegar Bend, AL and longtime resident of Mobile, AL, passed away at her home on Wednesday, August 13, 2014. She is preceded in death by her parents, William O. and Ezra F. Weldy and husband, Charles Lee Smith, Sr. Mrs. Smith was a graduate of Citronelle High School and Huntington College. She retired after 35 years of distinguished service with South Central Bell/AT & T as an Operations Manager. She was a member of multiple organizations to include The Womens Club (Semmes), The Friends of Semmes, The Eastern Star and The AT & T Pioneers. She remained an active member of Spring Hill Avenue Methodist Church and choir. Bettie was the owner of Magnolia Manor, and served as bridal consultant for 21 years in the greater Mobile area. She is remembered by her family and friend as a lady with a warm, kind and gentle demeanor who touched many lives. She is survived by her children, Charles L. Smith, Jr. (Renee), Craig L. Smith (Denise W.) and Cathy Jo Smith. She is also survived by six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home on Sunday, August 17, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday, August 18, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Deer Park Cemetery in Citronelle, AL.
