Betty was a charter member of Fulton Road Baptist Church where she was a faithful member for 83 years. She worked in the church nursery for 38 years. Betty was a hard worker, she was a housekeeper for many years and worked for B.C. Rain High School in the cafeteria for 17 years baking 100 biscuits daily and was the deep fryer operator. Having only received a 6th grade education, Betty worked many jobs and long hours to provide for her family. She loved Krispy Kreme donuts and growing her day lilies.
Betty is survived by her daughter Patricia "Trish" Sellew, grandson Bill Brown, granddaughter Stephanie Potter, 6 great-grandchildren, 2 step-great grandchildren, 4 nephews, 2 nieces, and 12 great nieces and nephews and many lifelong friends.
At the age of 90, Betty broke her hip and became confined to a wheelchair (which she hated). Although relocating to live with her daughter Trish in Fairhope, she maintained a strong friendship with her many loving and faithful friends. At the age of 92, she enjoyed a Amtrak train trip to New Orleans...in her faithful wheelchair. Unable to stand on her own for many years, Praise the Lord she is now walking in Heaven !
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be offered in Betty's name to the General Fund at Fulton Road Baptist Church.
