Bettye H. Chancey – Age 90, A native of Neely, MS and resident of Semmes, AL died on Thursday October 3, 2019. Mrs. Chancey worked for years as a bookkeeper for Bolton Ford and then other dealerships thereafter. She was an Alabama Crimson Tide fan, but her true passion was Major League Baseball. She was a diehard St. Louis Cardinals fan and loudly cheered them on from her living room every game, and occasionally cheered from the stands. She was full of baseball knowledge and always ready to talk about current baseball happenings. She was known for her amazing southern-style cooking. She cooked large family dinners for family gatherings as well as cooking every Sunday afternoon to get the family together each week.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John E. Chancey, her daughter, Ramona Lee Branum, and great-grandson Malachi Whitlock, her siblings Gilbert Hillman, Hugh Hillman, Dan Hillman, George “Moose” Hillman, Willis Hillman, and Roland “Buck” Hillman. She is survived by one son, Robert Wayne Beverly, two granddaughters, Courtney Branum (Michael) Barnes, Monica Branum (Matt) Gaff, two great-grandchildren, Christopher Hunter Buchanan and Kaydance Noel Whitlock, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 7, 2019 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Radney Funeral Home-Mobile, 3155 Dauphin Street, Mobile, AL 36606. Funeral service will follow at 2:00PM. Burial will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery West, 1599 Snow Rd S, Mobile, Alabama 36695.
