Beverly Joann Crain

Beverly Joann Mathis Crain – a 78 year-old native of Laurel, MS and a resident of Mobile, AL passed away Thursday, January 13, 2011. She was a graduate of Murphy High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Alabama. She graduated from the Mobile Infirmary School of Medical Technology in 1972 and taught there for many years afterward. She retired from Mobile Infirmary in 1991 after 20 years of service as a medical technologist. She had a lifelong love of music and for many years was an avid bridge player with the Mobile Duplicate Bridge Club. She was a past president and treasurer of the Women’s Tuesday Duplicate Bridge Club. Ms. Crain was preceded in death by her parents, Belva and Versia Mathis, and brother, Don Mathis. She is survived by two children, Brad Crain and Laura Godbold; sister, Betty Herman; brother, Paul Mathis; five grandchildren, Jennifer Godbold, Jeff Godbold, Michelle Godbold, Caroline Crain, and Bennett Crain; nieces, nephews, and friends. Graveside services will be held in Mobile Memorial Gardens on Saturday, January 15, 2011, at 3 p.m. The family will receive friends at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home from 2 p.m. until the service hour.
