Beverly “Bevy” Jean Strachan, resident of Mobile, Al, and formerly of Montgomery, AL, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2022. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward Franklin Strachan, Sr. and Eloina Bastian Strachan and twin sister, Barbara “Bobbie” Strachan Corley. She is survived by her brother Edward “Eddie” Franklin Strachan, Jr. and wife Nancy. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and many cousins.
Beverly had a very successful career beginning in the Proof Department at Merchants National Bank which later became Regions Bank. She worked her way up to auditor and retired in 2005 after 39 years. While still working at Regions she taught accounting at Troy University in Montgomery (TUM) and at the Sorrell College of Business (SCOB). Upon her retirement from Regions, she became a full-time accounting professor at TUM/SCOB. Due to health reasons she retired after 31 years at TUM/SCOB in 2019.
While working full time, Beverly began taking courses and earned a Bachelor Degree in Accounting, a Masters Degree in Counseling and a MBA. She attained numerous certifications over the years including CPA, CIA and CBA.
Bevy, as she was affectionately known by her family and friends, was a very kind and caring person. She was kind to those around her and would help whenever needed. Bevy never married, nor had children of her own, but always took pleasure in lavishing her nieces and nephews with wonderful gifts, especially at Christmas.
A Celebration of Beverly’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at St. Monica Catholic Church on Dauphin Island Pkwy. The family will receive family and friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery.
