Carol Jeanine Odom Taggart was born in Prichard, Alabama on April 19, 1940 to loving parents Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Odom. She graduated from Baker High School in 1958 and was a book-keeper until her marriage in September 1961. As a mother she involved herself in local community by leading Boy Scout and Girl Scout Troops usually at the same time. Jeanine, her sister, Olive, and her mother all lived in the same neighborhood which allowed her to remain in the home the she worked so hard to purchase until her death. While she was unable to leave her home due to her long battle with Multiple Sclerosis she was always surrounded by family and friends. She was an avid reader, accomplished artist and passionate about politics. Jeanine Odom Taggart above all else was a fighter.
Jeanine fought the ravages of Multiple Sclerosis for more than 30 years. It is for that reason that the family is requesting donations to Gulf Coast Multiple Sclerosis Avengers in lieu of flowers. Helen Jackson, founder and director, uses all donations to provide assistance for patients in the Mobile area. Please make checks out to Gulf Coast Multiple Sclerosis Avengers, PO Box 91434, Mobile, AL 36691.
