Carolyn McCain (Simmons) Kendrick, 82, of Mobile, AL, passed away in Madison, MS, on July 21, 2012. Carolyn was born in Birmingham on January 17, 1930, to Clarence and Mittie McCain. She graduated from Ensley High School and worked for the Jefferson County Board of Education. She attended Auburn University and completed her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of South Alabama. She taught history in the Mobile County School System for over thirty years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 13 years Ulay Kendrick. Carolyn is survived by her sister and best friend, Mary Ann Ballard, of Cantonment, FL. This loving woman of beauty and strength is also survived by her three children and their spouses: Cynthia Stephens (Neil) of Ottawa, Ontario: John Simmons (Karen) of Geneva, AL: and Emily Clay (Ricky) of Madison, MS. In addition, she is survived by 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street in Mobile at 10:00am, Wednesday, July 25. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 in the chapel. Interment will be at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
