Catherine Hannahan

Catherine Porter Hannahan passed from this life to the heavenly home she longed for on March 10, 2025 at the age of 83. She was preceded in death by her husband Pat Hannahan, and their beloved son James Porter “Jim” Hannahan.

Catherine’s memory will be cherished by her sons Patrick (Lindsey), Tommy (Bridget), and Robert (Missy), and daughter-in-law Dorsey Hannahan. She will be remembered with deep affection by her grandchildren, Catherine Frances Hannahan, Mary Lindsey Stansell (Clayton), Melissa Porter Hannahan, Erin Hannahan, Claudia Doss (Wirth), Thomas Hannahan, Virginia Hannahan, Grace Hannahan and Ellie Hannahan, as well as her great-granddaughter, Charlotte Doss.

Catherine was devoted to caring for her family, and she touched the lives of many others through her lifelong commitment to education and faith. She graduated from Toolen High School in Mobile. Catherine attended Newcomb College in New Orleans and spent her junior year abroad with study at the Goethe Institute. She married the love of her life, Pat Hannahan and later continued her education at Spring Hill College, where she achieved a Master’s in elementary education. Over the years, Catherine enjoyed the fellowship of friends in prayer groups and the Summer Theology Institute at Spring Hill College, where she earned a certificate in spiritual direction. She was a longtime member of St. Ignatius parish, where all her sons and many of her grandchildren attended school.

The family will receive family and friends in the Parish Hall of St. Ignatius Catholic Church on Friday, March 14, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m.in the new sanctuary. Interment will be in Old Springhill Cemetery, 354 Dilston Lane, Mobile, Alabama.
