Charles Fullington Hrabe, Jr. “Chuck”, 85, passed away at home on December 13, 2021 Mobile, Alabama. Chuck graduated Murphy High School in 1953' and attended Auburn University "API" graduating in 1959' with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Chuck served with the U.S. Army and the U.S. National Guard. He retired from the Alabama Power Company in 1993. Chuck volunteered at the Via Senior Citizen Services of Mobile where he served as a Computer Instructor from 1993 – 2019, and was made an honorary member of the Alabama Senior Citizens Hall of Fame in 2007. He was the President of the Retired Group of Mobile Division (The Energizers), locally, and was previously the President state-wide. Chuck was a member of two Mystic Societies here in Mobile, as well a huge Auburn Football fan. He loved to travel to Disney World, and watch the Lawrence Welk Show every Saturday night. Chuck was a family man, and was rarely seen without his wife, of 60 years, Mary Jo Hrabe. The most distinguishable thing about such an amazing man – he was never caught without a pen in his pocket!
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; Charles F. Hrabe, Sr. and Stella Deitz Hrabe; brother, Howard Benjamin Hrabe; and sister, Patricia Ann Hrabe Waldorf.
He is survived by the love of his life, Mary Jo Cooper Hrabe; two nephews, Patrick Hrabe and Victor Hrabe; niece, Jennifer Hrabe Nocero; many friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2021 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home on 3155 Dauphin Street in Mobile, with a chapel service immediately following with Chaplain Ed Connick officiating. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
Acting pallbearers will be Raymond E. Adams, Sean T. Bailey, Edward J. Kilday, IV, Jack Lynch, Arnaldo Martinez, and James S. Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Doug Broadhead, David Brown, James W. Cook, Jr., Kennon Drew, Dr. Frank A. Hall, Jr., J.C. Mitchell, Greg Nonnenmacher, and Bob O’ Daniel.
