Charles Larry Smith, “Bug”, passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 in Mobile, Alabama. He was born to William George Smith, Jr. and Ila Kirkland Smith on February 5, 1948 in Mobile. Bug was a character from the start. He loved cutting up. Bug joined the United States Army when he was 20 years old, and served his country bravely for six years, and was a diehard, life-long patriot afterwards. He graduated from technical school, and became a welder for Mack Manufacturing for several decades. Bug was a huge motorcycle enthusiast, and loved working and tinkering on them. But above all else, he loved his family – especially his grandchildren.
Bug was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Thomas Roger Smith.
Left to cherish his memories is his wife of 44 years, Anita B. Smith; daughter, Sally Lynn Beagle and her husband, Thomas Browden Beagle; two wonderful grandchildren, Mason Berry and Willow Beagle; one sister, Helen Yvonne Smith; half-brother, Nolan Schmidt; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other cherished family and friends.
Visitation for Bug will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile, with a graveside service immediately following in Pine Crest Cemetery.
