With the hope of Heaven and heavy hearts we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend Claude Jackson Loper, on Sunday February 2nd, 2025.
Claude was born on January 27th, 1955 to Thomas Franklin “Frank" and Dorothy Irene Allen Loper in Mobile, Alabama. Growing up he shared his father’s love of the outdoors and sports.
Raised in Mobile, Claude graduated in 1973 from Shaw High School where he was an athlete and played catcher throughout his years in school. His faith was always the center of his life. He grew up in Crichton Church of God in Mobile, Alabama where he met the love of his life, Pam. Claude spent much of his life pouring into others. This led him to South Alabama where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. He spent 24 years working for USAMC where he retired in 2019.
An avid hunter and outdoorsman, Claude spent many days at his family land in Saint Stephens, Alabama. There he worked countless hours caring for the land with his brother, Danny, where their father was raised. He made Loper Timberlands a place where his children and grandchildren will continue to enjoy the woods just as he did and remembering all they learned from him there.
He was proceeded in death by his Father, Mother and one brother Thomas Eugene “Bud” Loper all of whom he is surely celebrating with today.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years who he built a beautiful life and family with, Pamela McKaig Loper and three children who he was most proud of, son Brent Jason Loper and wife, Jess, son Ryan Justin Loper and wife Sydney, daughter Lauren Rose Ready and husband, Daniel. His most cherished title was Papa to his nine grandchildren, Adison Taylor, Jackson Tucker, Emily Claire, Landry Franklin, Harper Rose, Dorothy Jane, June Alba, Brody Rayf and Kellen Rhys. He treasured his siblings who were also his dearest friends, sister Joyce Loper Walker and husband John, Charlotte Loper Haskew and husband Roger, brother Danny Lee Loper and a niece he so loved, Monica Haskew Gober and husband, Ty. Left to also treasure his memory is his beloved mother-in-law who loved him as her own son, Rose Alba McKaig.
Claude loved to laugh and naturally brightened every room he walked into. Those who knew him will remember him for his unwavering faith, his love for his family & friends, his country, and his love of Alabama Football. As his family, we will ache with his passing, but rejoice in knowing that his life left an indelible mark on each of us and will continue in the lives of so many.
The service will be officiated by Rev. Sam Page with special music provided by members of The Allen Family. Pallbearers will be Brent Loper, Ryan Loper, Daniel Ready, Danny Loper, Darrell Allen and Chad Carlsen.
A celebration of his life will be held at Oak Park Church (Sollie Road, Mobile, Alabama) on Friday, February 7th. Visitation will be from 10 am - until Noon. Services will be held at Noon. Internment will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery.
