

Claudie Adlina Johnson Kolowich (May 25, 1921-October 30, 2020) Claudie Adlina Johnson Kolowich, age 99, passed away Oct 30, 2020 at Mobile Infirmary hospital, Mobile, Alabama. Born May 25, 1921, in Atlanta, Georgia she was the daughter of the late Claude G. and Suzanne Gilberte Beguinot Johnson and the wife of the late George J. Kolowich Jr. Claudie graduated high school in Tampa, Florida, in 1939. Her family returned to Atlanta, Georgia where Claudie graduated "Magna Cum Laude" from Oglethorpe University in 1943. While there she was the president of Chi Omega Sorority and her beauty earned her the title of Miss Oglethorpe University. Claudie met her husband George while attending college. They married July 17, 1943, in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. During World War II, she was a civilian employee at the Marine Corps. Logistic Base in Barstow, California. After World War II the couple returned to Michigan and started a family. Claudie was a devoted loving mother to her four children. After living in Denver, Colorado the family moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, where Claudie developed her many talents including growing beautiful orchids, 1decorating, calligraphy, and award winning Sumi-e painting. She returned to Georgia before finally settling in Mobile, Alabama. She was always an active member of the Catholic Church parishes she belonged to.
She is survived by her four children, Sharon Houston (Victor) of Mobile, Al., George J. Kolowich III (Susan, deceased), Woodstock, Ga., Andrew G. Kolowich (Cindy), Lauderdale By The Sea, Fl., and Suzanne Howell (Randy), Griffin, Ga., 8 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchilden, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. In the last 5 years of her life Claudie was adopted into the loving family and care of the Little Sisters of the Poor at the Sacred Heart Home in Mobile, Al. Their kindness and loving attention was a joy to her in her last years. With this in mind, Claudie's family request that in lieu of flowers, a contribution be made to Little Sisters Of The Poor, 1655 McGill Ave., Mobile, Al. 36604. On 11/20/2020 following a 10:30 a.m. Requiem Mass at St. Andrews Catholic Church, Roswell, Ga. inurnment of Claudie's ashes will take place in Arlinton cemetery, Sandy Springs, Ga.
