Dave spent his childhood in Stevenson, Alabama. At the young age of 15, David joined the U.S. Navy and served bravely in World War II. After his service, he returned to Alabama and attended Auburn University, where he earned a degree in engineering. His commitment to serving his country continued as he joined the Air Force and served in the Korean War. After returning home, David was employed by the FAA as an air traffic controller for 24 years. In 1956, he founded Electronic Supply Company, which he successfully grew into a multistate wholesale chain. David’s entrepreneurial spirit and guidance were pivotal to the success of several companies he helped along the way Throughout his life, Dave was devoted to his Lord Jesus Christ, serving faithfully and sharing his faith with those around him. His unwavering commitment to his faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and inspiring all who knew him.
Dave is survived by his lifelong wife, Dolores Guess; his four sons, Dale Guess (Nancy), Ron Guess (Alex), Chris Guess (Julie), and David Guess (Tara); his daughter, Becky Walton; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Radney's Funeral Home, located at 3155 Dauphin Street, Mobile, Alabama from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, January 15, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery West, Mobile, Alabama.
