David was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Elaine Stacey Hare, his daughter, Sarah Hare Davis (Morgana), his stepson, Michael Hanks, and four grandchildren, Tyler Hanks, Blair Hanks, Mason Davis and Luke Davis.
David graduated from the University of South Alabama with a degree in Business Administration. He spent many years working at Southeastern Wire, and 25+ years as Manager and salesman at Consolidated Fence Company. David also spent several years playing music as the duo Sully and Hare, and most recently with the group the Quintessentials.
David was an avid fisherman, being a long-time member and past president of various local fishing clubs. One of his greatest passions in life was the Battle of the Grubs (the BOG) fishing tournaments that he has hosted for the past 30+ years, and the countless friendships he gained over those years.
He has many true and close friendships, some of whom describe him as a gentle soul, a legend, an icon, a mentor, a fun loving spirit, compassionate, kind, loyal, humble, having good humor and can laugh at himself. His wife, Elaine, describes him best as “simply awesome, the kind of person I wish I could be.”
Elaine is requesting that his fishing buds ditch the suits for his service, and to wear your Magellan fishing shirt in his honor.
