David was known for his quick whit, sense of humor and work ethic. He also enjoyed pistols and shot competitively in his early years. During his tenure at Georgia Southern, he developed a love for horses and later participated in competitions across the Midwest. David loved education and teaching as well as publishing articles and textbooks. He graduated from The University of Alabama with a PhD in Business, taught at several universities both stateside and overseas before settling in at University of South Alabama in 2007.
He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandparent and friend. David was preceded in death by his parents, David and Modell Turnipseed. He is survived by his wife, Patricia of 50 years, daughter Ashley Navarro (Dan, Jr), son David III, (Dillon), daughter Libby Callan (Hunter), grandchildren Maggie & Daniel Navarro III, David Turnipseed IV and John Thomas Callan. He is also survived by is brother Jim Turnipseed and sister Laurie Newman as well as many additional friends and family.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Radney Funeral Home, 3155 Dauphin Street, Mobile, AL beginning at 10am and ending at 12 noon. All who knew and loved David are welcome to attend.
