
Dolores Simmons was the daughter of the late Lottie Williams Simmons and Emory F. Simmons, Sr. and the sister of Emory F. Simmons, Jr. (Bonnie Lambert) and Alton L. Simmons (Polly). She was born in Mobile, Alabama and graduated from Vigor High School and received a B.A. from the University of Southern Mississippi. She received her Master of Arts Degree in Business Education from the University of Alabama.
Dolores was employed by the United States Department of Defense in England, France and Germany as a teacher for the dependent children of servicemen and women. Upon returning to the United States, she was employed as a teacher at the University of South Carolina, North Georgia College and Mobile County Public Schools.
Dolores resided in Mobile, and was a member of Springhill Baptist Church. She was a member of the Mobile Education Association, USA Odyssey program, KKI Teacher Society, Azalea City Republican Women’s Club, and Daughters of the American Revolution, and many other organizations. She was a friend to many. She is survived by nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home, Dauphin Street in Mobile on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Funeral Services will be held in the chapel of Radney Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Private graveside service for the family will be held in Gulf Crest Cemetery, Chunchula, Alabama.
