Don Hilliard Wood

Don H. Wood – A native of Salisbury, NC and a longtime resident of Mobile, AL died Saturday, December 24, 2011 at home. He worked as a Marine Engineer for 39 years until his retirement in 1984 with Waterman and Sea Land Steamship Corp. After retirement, his hobbies were fishing and antique cars until he lost his eye sight. Mr. Wood was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and a member of the Loop Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lena Keith Wood; and brother, Carl Wood. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Wikstrand Wood; one daughter, Donna Leigh Wood Wise; four step-daughters, Alice (Jim) Klemashevich, Rebecca (Jeff) Todd, Cynthia Chapman and Diane (David) Crawley; nine grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. prior to services. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
