Donald Lew Hester

Donald L Hester, Sr. (Don) is a resident of Mobile. He passed away peacefully on Feb. 14, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born and raised in Covington County and attended school at Red Level, AL.

Don was a people person and was self-employed for 45 years. He loved people and everyone loved him. He owned the Chevron Station in Tillman’s Corner along with a wrecker service, convenient stores and used car dealerships. His passion was working and talking to people.

He loved the Lord and attended church and Sunday school at Luke 4:18 Fellowship. Don was honorably discharged after serving in the US Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents Charles Vernon and Mattie E. Gorum Hester, three brothers and five sisters. He is survived by his wife of 57½ years, Sharlene H. Hester of Mobile, one son Donald L. (Donnie)Hester, Jr. (Darlene), one daughter Selene Hester Finch (Danny), six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

The family will receive friends on Tuesdayday, February 20, 2018 from 9:00am until 11:00am at Luke 4:18 Fellowship, 2664 Sollie Rd., Mobile AL. 36695. Funeral services will begin at 11:00am. Burial will be held at Alabama State Veteran’s Cemetery in Spanish Fort at 2:30pm with Military Honors.
