Donald L Spahn

Donald Lloyd Spahn, born on August 3, 1945, passed away at a local hospital with his family by his side on Saturday, July 20, 2013. He was 67 years old. He was a native of Lincoln, NE, and a resident of Mobile, AL for the past 38 years. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1963 and received an engineering degree from the University of Nebraska in 1969. He worked briefly for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers before being drafted into the Army. He served in Germany from 1969-1971. He resumed his career with the Corps upon his discharge, retiring in 2007. In the early 70's, he lived in Minooka, IL, Mobile, Brandon, FL, then returned to Mobile permanently in 1975. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard J. Spahn and Theresa Rose Huck Spahn. He is survived by his wife, Linda Trueheart Spahn, son, Jason D. Spahn, daughter, Catherine (William "Bo") Gunn, grandson, Alan P. Gunn, sister, Joyce (John) Jeffries, brother-in-law, Mickey (Judy) Trueheart, and other family and friends. Funeral services will be held from the Chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 12 noon. Visitation will start at 11 AM. Burial will be in Pine Crest West Cemetery on Snow Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the University of Nebraska Foundation.
