Dorothy Brooks Hicks, "Dot", 90, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, August 22, 2016. Dot was a long-time resident of Mobile. She was the embodiment of a lady: generous, caring, and loving. She was bold and larger than life, never being afraid to speak her mind. Dot loved gardening. She loved tending flowers and cutting grass. Dot was a gracious hostess. There was no better place for her family to gather than at her home grilling out, swimming in the pool or drinking one of her famous chocolate milkshakes. She also had a passion for traveling. She was a music lover, and was always up for a good, classic country song. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.
Dot was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Hill and Mattie Durden Hill; and her previous husband, Raymond Elwood Brooks. She is survived by her husband, Melvin Hicks; three daughters, Linda (Herbert) Anderson, Janet (Garland) Hickman, and Gail Pennington; one step-daughter, Shelly (Chris) Moore; one step-son, Steven Hicks; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Dot will be held in the Bienville Room at Radney Funeral Home in Mobile on Saturday, August 27, 2016 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 28, 2016 in the Radney Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Serenity Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be offered at www.radneyfuneralhome-mobile.com.
