

Dorothy L. Garner - 88, a native of Sylvarena, MS and longtime resident of Mobile AL, passed away at Lynwood Nursing & Rehab, Friday, January 13, 2012, with family and close friends surrounding her. She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Norman; her infant son, James Nathan; her brother, J. C. Bankston; and parents, Henry and Hassie Bankston; Survivors include one son, Michael N. (Sharon) Garner of Charlotte, NC; one daughter, Janis Kelley of Mobile, AL; two brothers, John (Senoth) Bankston of Mobile, AL and Ed Bankston of Pensacola, FL; two sisters, Bobbie (Edgar) West of Mobile, AL, and Sally Davenport of Daphne, AL; four grandchildren, Susanne Davis of Daphne, AL, Dan (Cindy) Wood of Walker, LA, Amy Garner of Dublin, Ireland, and Sommer Garner of Boston, MA; and four great-grandchildren. Dorothy Garner was baptized 68 years ago as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Her thirst for Bible knowledge in her young adulthood led her on a long journey, researching Bible truths and sharing the knowledge she gained with everyone whom she came in contact. She always remembered her savior Jesus Christ’s words at John, Chapter 11, verse 25: “…I am the resurrection and the life. He that exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life;”. Pallbearers: Dan Wood, Ron Bankston, Rick Bankston, Barry West, Gary Bankston, and Michael Davis. Visitation is scheduled Monday, January 16, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street in Mobile. A funeral service, with Walter Brown presiding, is scheduled Tuesday, January 17 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel at Radney Funeral Home.
