
Dorothy “Dottie Gene” Radcliff, a native of Mobile, Alabama, and resident of Mobile/Point Clear for many years, died on May 16, 2017 at home surrounded by her family. Born in 1921, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Barton Greer and Dorothy Dodge Greer. She was preceded by her husband, Robert Herndon Radcliff, Jr.; her sister, Helen Sibley Greer Mooney; her son, Robert Herndon Radcliff, III and her grandson, Robert Radcliff Lyons. She is survived by her two brother, Joseph Barton Greer Jr. and Jack Vidmer Greer of Mobile; her three children; Genie Inge (Clifton), Lucy Harrison (Jim), Greer Radcliff and Adair Brown all of Mobile/Point Clear, AL; her 7 grandchildren, Clif Inge (Ginna), Ashley O’Connor (Henry), Lucy Broos (Dan), Hunter Lyons (Christie), Bobby Radcliff (Lacy), Self Radcliff (Cathy) and Hutch Radcliff (Elizabeth) and 22 great-grandchildren. Dottie Gene attended Murph High School and Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Virginia. She was a member of Christ Church Cathedral. FAMILY meant everything to “Idene” (as most people knew her today). She was the “ROCK” of the family. Her home was “the Place” ! Everyone loved to gather there. “Idene” was the most unassuming, beautiful, gracious, lovely “SOUTHERN LAADY”, and will be missed by many. On Saturday, May 20, 2017, a visitation will be held at 3:00 p.m. and a Celebration Service to follow at 4:00 p.m. at Christ Church Cathedral, 115 S. Conception St., Mobile, AL.
