Douglas Elijah Hux – an 81 year-old longtime resident of Semmes passed away Saturday, May 16, 2015. Of Seminole and Dutch descent, he was born in Oklahoma City, OK on December 19, 1933. A United States Naval veteran, Mr. Hux served as a BTG3 aboard the USS Arnold J. Isbell (DD869) from 1953-57. He was a longtime business owner in the Semmes area. He loved to fish and was a wonderful artist who enjoyed drawing cartoons. Mr. Hux is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Peggy A. Hux; children, Douglas E. Hux, Jr., and Andrea Hux; grandson, Joshua R. Hux; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held from Tillman's Corner First Baptist on Thursday, May 21, 2015, at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Wednesday, May 20, from 5-8 p.m. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
