
Earl Laverne “Buddy” Roberts, a native and lifelong resident of the Tanner Williams Community, died peacefully in his home December 30th, 2015 at the age of 85. Earl is survived by his wife Betty Jo Tanner Roberts of 34 years; his son, Earl Craig (Carolyn) Roberts; son-in-law Bradley (Margaret) Ward; sisters, Barbara Daughtery and Nell Wilson; four grandchildren Dustin (Brandi) Ward, Jennifer (Matthew) Chisholm, Jeffrey (Monique) Roberts and Stephen Roberts; five great-grandchildren, Ward and Max Chisholm, and Levi, Judah and Joy Roberts; nieces, other relatives and friends. Earl was preceded in death by wife Willadean “Deanie” Roberts; daughter, Phyllis René Roberts Ward; parents Jesse Elwood Roberts and Annie Luveda Pendarvis Roberts; brother Buryl Ladd Roberts and a nephew.
Earl was born on April 29th, 1930 in Mobile, AL, and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother and Papaw. His passions were golfing and farming, and he spent a considerable amount of time doing both. Earl loved doing anything that was outdoors and was always up for a new adventure.
Visitation is scheduled for December 31st, 2015 at 1:30pm at Roberts Chapel United Methodist Church and the funeral service will be at 2pm, officiated by Brother Pete Herndon and Brother Donnie Williamson. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Earl’s life. In lieu of flowers donations to Roberts Chapel and Tanner Williams Holiness Church are welcome.
The family would like to thank his caring nurse David Oliver and compassionate caretaker, Lupe, as they were special friends to Buddy.
