Edward David Shewmake

April 24, 1928 — May 1, 2016

Edward David Shewmake, age 88, native of Coffeeville, AL and longtime resident of Mobile, AL passed away on May 1, 2016. He was the son of the late Ervin and Ruby Odom Shewmake. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Mable Cowart Shewmake. He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Ruby Fay Enzor; son, Joseph Edward (Audrey) Shewmake of Mobile, AL; daughters Jan (Don) Chance of Baton Rouge, LA; Margie (Mike) Wright of Hoover, AL; step-sons Gary Floyes and Kenny Floyes both of Mobile, AL. He is also survived by his brother, John Shewmake of Mobile, AL; grandchildren Kim (Michael) Gomez of Baton Rouge, LA; Ashley (Joel) Altman of West Chester, OH; Christin Wright Kosztur, Brian Wright and Erin Wright all of Hoover, AL; great grandchildren Sydney, Braydon, Landon and Carson Gomez, all of Baton Rouge, LA; Megan Altman of West Chester, OH and Emily Mitts of Hoover, AL. He is also survived by numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Mr. Shewmake was a parishioner of St. Monica Catholic Church for 63 years. He was the last active member of the original parishioners.

He was retired from Stauter Boat Works. After he retired, Mr. Shewmake had a boat refinishing and repair operation. His craftsmanship was highly respected and in great demand.

Visitation will be held at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at St. Monica Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. followed by graveside services at Pine Crest Cemetery.
