AUX SOINS DE
Pine Crest Funeral Home & Pine Crest Cemetery
Edy Librada Rodriguez-Santana Hearn was born on September 27, 1937 to Jose Antonio Santana-Banda and Angelina Rodriguez-Napoles in the little town of Deleite in Holguin Province, Cuba.
She is survived by one brother, Elio Henrique Santana of Miami, Fl; two sisters, Elvia Edelvira Santana and Ramona Santana, both of Havana, Cuba; her husband of 53 years, Larry Hearn; four children, Jay (Linda) Bringardner, Angelina (Robert) Huckeby, Selma (Kenneth) Haughton, Tony (Tiffany) Hearn; two granddaughters, Jessica Fauver and Hannah Hearn; two grandsons, Joshua Fauver and Cody Byrd; one great-granddaughter, Jordan Fauver; two great-grandsons, Jake Fauver and Luke Freeman; along with a plethora of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Elba Alicia Santana-Mendoza; four brothers, Tony Santana, Victor Hugo Santana, Carlos Manuel Santana, and Juan Alberto Santana.
Edy was a proud naturalized American citizen who taught herself to speak English fluently. She obtained a GED and graduated from Charles Beauty Academy where she worked at various beauty shops until she was able to open her own. She worked as a hairdresser until a stroke in 2003 took away her vision.
Edy loved people and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She joined the Semmes Senior Center and attended regularly to play dominoes with her friends. She often lamented that what hurt most about losing her sight was not being able to drive and serve others like she had done all of her life.
Edy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Aside from tithing to the church, Edy donated to St. Jude Children Hospital, Mercy Ships, The Salvation Army, and sent money as often as she could to help her family in Cuba with food and medicine.
Edy was living proof that all angels don’t necessarily have wings! Words cannot express how much she will be missed.
