Elaine Forbes Gillikin, age 80, passed away April 30, 2018, of heart failure. She was born on April 25, 1938, in Mobile, Alabama to James Ivie Gillikin, Jr. and Elaine Forbes Brown Gillikin. Elaine graduated from Murphy High School in 1956 and went on to attend Auburn University where she became a sorority sister of Alpha Gamma Delta. She later married, and her family life and raising her children became her priority. After retiring in 2003, she stayed busy with many activities. She was active in her church and served in the Altar Guild. She also volunteered at the Cypress Medical Center in the Neo-natal division providing love and support to premature babies. She loved spending time with her Bunco and Keenager groups as well as squeezing in exercise classes at the local YMCA. She also enjoyed travelling which included trips to South Africa, Hawaii, a riverboat cruise in Europe, and more. Elaine is survived by her two brothers and their families, along with her four children and their spouses, her twelve grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Elaine touched so many lives with her kindness and love, and to have known her was to love her. Her spirit and legacy will live on in those she touched. A 10:00 am visitation will be followed by an 11:00 am service at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Mobile, Alabama on Saturday, May 19, 2018.
