Eleanor R. Pierpont – born in Aberdeen, MS on October 22, 1929, passed away at her home in Mobile, AL on Saturday, September 10, 2011. Mrs. Pierpont was a graduate of Mississippi Women’s College and worked for the Mobile County Public School System for 30 years as an English teacher, the last 20 of which she taught advanced English at Shaw High School and retired as the chair of its English department. Mrs. Pierpont attended Christ United Methodist Church and enjoyed her retirement, her family and home, traveling, and interior decorating. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Harry F. Pierpont, a niece, a nephew, and many friends. A memorial service will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Thursday, September 15, at 6 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until the service hour.
