

Emily Baker Zimlich Helland, passed away in a local hospital on Monday, July 14, 2014 after a brief illness. The daughter of Haywood Kingsley Baker of Mobile and Hallie Layman Moore of Knoxville, TN, she was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Leon Edwin Zimlich and son, Kingsley Allen Zimlich. Mrs. Helland was a graduate of Murphy High School Class of 1944, attended the University of Alabama and graduated from the University of South Alabama. She worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation and retired as a secretary with IDS American Express. She was a faithful member of St Paul’s Episcopal Church, was a member of the Mobile Opera Guild Auxilliary and the Jaycettes. Mrs. Helland is survived by children, Mary Elise Zimlich, Norfolk, VA, Leon Edwin Zimlich, Jr, Mobile, AL. and Mark Stephen Zimlich (Jeannette) of Saraland, AL. She is also survived by her brothers, Haywood Kingsley Baker, Jr. (Lynn), Dallas, TX, George Robert Baker (Joyce), Mobile, and grandchildren, Megan Adair Zimlich, and Adam Kingsley Zimlich of Rockledge, FL, Sister Temple Alexandra Zimlich, Nashville, TN, Hallie Layman Zimlich, Sophia Emmaline Zimlich, Isabella Marie Zimlich, Shipley Claiborne Zimlich, and Julius Kingsley Zimlich all of Saraland, AL. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2014, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Mobile, AL.
