Ernest Frederick Cody

Ernest Frederick "Fred" Cody - A native and lifelong resident of Mobile, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2010, at the age of 71. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilmer S. and Madeline Maygarden Cody. He is survived by his wife, Judy Alexander Cody; four children, Fred Cody, Jr., Julia (Pat) Fleming, Madeline Cody Hatch, and Ben Cody; his brother, Dr. Wilmer S. (Caroline Burns) Cody; three grandchildren, Patrick and Alex Fleming and Kaitlin Hatch; his uncle, Ernest (Jeanette) May-garden; aunt, Christine M. Brabner; other relatives and extended family. Fred Cody attended Leinkauf Elementary School, Barton Academy and graduated in 1957 from Murphy High School, where he was Student Council President. He attended Duke University and finalized his accounting degree from the University of South Alabama. He owned and operated his own accounting firm for more than 35 years. His favorite pass time was discussing politics with his friends at Callaghan's as well as fishing and crabbing at the Alba Club. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Pius X Catholic Church on Wednesday, September 15, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 14, 2010, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street.
