
Eugene G. Cox, a lifelong resident of Mobile, died in his sleep March 7, next to Doris, his wife of 62 years. Known for years as "Dr. Cox" to many of the customers of Cox Drug Store on Marine Street, he graduated from the Auburn School of Pharmacy in 1954. He was preceded in death by his son Eugene (Bo) Jr., granddaughter Claire Hope, brother John and sisters Jennie Vail Cassidey and Margaret Duhn. "Hi", as he was affectionately known to many, is survived by 5 children, Jayne Cox Yarbrough (Pat, deceased), Robert "Bob" (Terri), David (Lee Anne), William "Billy" (Tammy), James "Jay" (Nicky) and 43 grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Cox was a parishioner of St. Pius X Catholic Church since its inception and the St. Vincent De Paul Society and enjoyed many years of family and friendship in a Mobile Mystic Society. He lived life to the fullest on his own terms until the time of his death. A wake for Mr. Cox will be on Monday March 9, 2015 from 5-730 with a Rosary at 7 pm with a funeral service on Tuesday morning at 11am at St Pius X church on Sage Ave., Interment will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery on Dauphin Island Parkway. The family requests that in lieu of flowers please make contributions to the Saint Vincent de Paul Society at St Pius X church.
