On May 1, 1930, Eugene Wallen Lang was born to the blessed union of George Leslie Lang and Celestine Herman Lang. He was a lifelong resident of Mobile, Alabama. Eugene was a kind, gentle-spirited man, and had a zeal for life. He passed away peacefully on May 17, 2020.
Eugene received a formal education and graduated from Most Pure Heart of Mary. After graduation, he enlisted into the United States Army, where he became a distinguished veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Once Eugene finished his tour of duty, he began a career working as a Postal Clerk with the United States Postal Service. After 42 years of service, he retired and began to work at the State Legislative Office. Eugene worked diligently as a 4th Degree member of Knights of Saint Peter Claver and Charter member of Knights of Ebony Civic and Social Club. He was an avid sportsman, and enjoyed football season as a dedicated Notre Dame and New Orleans Saints fan.
He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife, Idella Hardy Lang; children, Deidra Lang Davis (Dallas, TX), Lisa Lang Walker (Kansas City, MO), Eugene Lang, II (Dallas, TX), Kimberly (Kenneth) Kelly (Atlanta, GA), and Brian (Raven) Lang (Mobile, AL); grandchildren, DeRon Bethea, Cassandra Walker, Kerra Alexis Kelly, Kenneth Alexander Kelly, Brian Joseph Lang Jr., and Lauren Lang; as well as a host of relatives and friends.
A Graveside will be held Pine Crest Cemetery on Friday, May 22, 2020 at 12 noon.
