Eugene Wilson Townson

Gene passed away Thursday, December 3, 2015 in Bay Minnette, Alabama. Born in Kentucky on August 4, 1932; Son of Clyde Lonzo Townson and Dinah Marie Townson (nee Peace.) Raised by his father and Step-Mother Flora Townson Bright. Mr. Townson retired from the United States Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant at USAFB Hurlburt Field, FL. He graduated from the University of West Florida with a teaching degree and retired from the Florida Public Schools.

Mr. Townson is survived by his wife Gloria Ann Townson, his son Timothy Neal Townson (Gina;) Stepson John J. Gontarek (Nancy;) Stepson Luke Gontarek (Ed;) Sisters Christine Godbee (John) of Houston, TX; Pat Bonner (Billie) of Lillian, AL; and Mona Jasnow (Ed) of Pasadena CA; Brothers Max A. Townson (Kay) of Cullman, AL; Charles E. Townson, of Moulton, AL; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother and Daughter Pamela Gene Townson, Brother Marrell Townson and Sister Brenda Faye Townson. He was a Master Mason in good standing of Abilene Lodge No. 559 for over 50 years and Spanish Fort Lodge No. 916; He was a congregant of the Providence United Methodist Church, Spanish Fort.

As befits his many years of honorable service to our nation as a combat veteran, he will be interred in the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Spanish Fort, AL. on Monday, December 14, 2015 at 11:00 am.

Visitation will be Saturday, December 12, 2015 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Pine Crest Funeral Home.
