Frances Holladay McGrew

Frances Bryan Holladay McGrew of Mobile, Alabama went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Sunday, February 15, 2015. Born in Selma, Alabama, Frances lived 91 glorious years. As a member of Chickasaw United Methodist Church, Frances served on the Natalie Simison Circle, a group of Christian women who gathered together for fellowship, service, study, and spiritual growth. She was a devout Christian and loved to nurture her family and friends. Frances demonstrated her compassion and hospitality towards others by providing shelter and meals in her home and encouragement for bereaving friends. She was the only child of Elizabeth Denny Simison Holladay and William Leslie Holladay. Frances is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Kenneth Joseph McGrew, Sr. and an infant son, Joseph McGrew. She is survived by her four loving children: Ann McGrew Dolan of Mobile, Kenneth Joseph McGrew, Jr. (Lynn) of Mobile, Susan McGrew Holsombeck (Steve) of Mobile, and William Bryan McGrew (Mary Ann) of Chickasaw. She was blessed with eight grandchildren: Michael H. Dolan of Atlanta, Kelly Dolan Thibault of Houston, Kenneth Joseph McGrew III of Mobile, Kevin Francis McGrew of Nashville, Steven Brett Holsombeck of Birmingham, Lauren Ann Holsombeck of Mobile, Brandon Heath McGrew of Chickasaw and Christopher Grant McGrew of Chickasaw. In addition to her grandchildren, she was adored by six great-grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, February 20, 2015 at Chickasaw United Methodist Church, 108 West Lee Street. Visitation with family and friends begins at 10:00 am followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am. Interment will be held at Pine Crest Cemetery, 1939 Dauphin Island Parkway. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Chickasaw United Methodist Church.
