Francis Allison Gardner, “Frank”, passed away in his home on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at the age of 81. Frank was born in Panama City, Florida. He was a 1960 graduate of McGill Institute and 1964 graduate of Spring Hill College in Mobile, AL. After serving in the U.S. Army, Frank began employment with International Paper Company, where he worked in management for over 30 years before retiring and returning to the Gulf Coast. Not one to sit idle in retirement, Frank continued working as a tax preparer with H&R Block for 15 years. He was a dedicated volunteer at Saint Philip Neri Church, the Fowl River Community Center, the Knights of Columbus, and a long-time member of a mystic society. Frank enjoyed his years living on Fowl River. He had a life-long love of boating, fishing, and enjoyed the pleasures of living near the water.
Frank was the son of the late George and Agnes Gardner. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ann Gardner; and brother, Tommy Gardner.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Louise Manley Gardner; four daughters, Janet Rawls (Charles) of Troy, Nancy Gardner, Susan Haggerty (Joe) and Allison Puckett (Brad) all of Mobile; five grandchildren, Shelby Puckett, Charlie Rawls, Justin Puckett, Thomas Haggerty and Robert Haggerty; siblings, George Gardner, Jr. (Nancy), David Gardner, Marshall Gardner (Joan), Rosie Flowers (Buddy), and Pat Gardner (Kathy).
A Mass of Celebration will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Saint Philip Neri Catholic Church, with Father Dan Good officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: Fowl River Volunteer Fire Department, 4115 River Road, Theodore, Alabama, 36582, Attn.: John Coredio.
A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
