
Frederick William Clarke, Jr., 89, died on December 4, 2012.
The son of Frederick William Clarke, Sr., and Helen Scott Clarke, he was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Harvey, and his grandson, Cavelle Love.
He was a lifelong resident of Mobile until he moved to St. Martin's in the Pines in Birmingham in 2008.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Nelda Alexander Clarke, daughters Helen Turpin, Barbara Love, and Jean Cater, sons-in-law Harry, David, and John, grandchildren Rebecca, Sara, Christopher, and Hannah, and great grandchildren Sam, Addie, Jacob, and Claire.
Mr. Clarke was a graduate of Murphy High School and the University of Alabama. He was a pilot during World War II and worked 45 years at Merchants National Bank. He was a Mason and member of the Scottish Rite. After retirement he spent several weeks a year as a Volunteer in the Park in the Smokies. He was a founding member of the Gulf Coast Dulcimer Club. He was baptized in the Baptist church and spent most of his life as a faithful Presbyterian. He was elder emeritus of Central Presbyterian Church in Mobile and a member of Trinity Presbyterian in Birmingham.
Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or the Jimmy Hale Mission in Birmingham.
Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home in Mobile from 12:00 to 1:00 on Saturday December 8, 2012, followed by a graveside service at Pine Crest Cemetery at 2:00.
