George Chris "Bubba" Helton

George Chris “Bubba” Helton – a 62 year-old native and resident of Mobile passed away Monday, May 30, 2011. He retired from the Mobile County Public School System Transportation Department and was a Vietnam veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Helton was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and was an avid Auburn fan. He was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Whigham. Mr. Helton is survived by his wife of 33 years, Macy Barnes Helton; brothers, Billy Helton (Dana) and Dwight Helton (Marie); nieces and nephews, Shayne Nelson (Glenn), Cary Helton (Rebecca), Leigh Helton, Adam Whigham (Tiffany), and Jeb Whigham; five great-nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held in Mobile Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at 12 noon. The family will receive friends at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home beginning at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
