Glenn Lewis Summers, Jr., 88, a longtime resident of Mobile, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his home on February 12, 2026. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. A Christian, he is forever in the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
He was born on December 28, 1937, in Warsaw, New York, to the late Glenn Lewis and Katherine Poe Summers. After attending Murphy High School and Marion Military Institute, he served his country in the United States Navy, stationed in San Diego, California, with much of his time spent on the USS Princeton after the Korean Conflict. He then served in the Alabama Army National Guard and later in the Army Reserves. He retired from the City of Mobile Fire Department, and was co-owner of Cottage Hill Lawn & Bike. He was a member of Dauphin Way Baptist Church.
Glenn was a man of strong character, integrity, and leadership. He loved his family deeply and left an enduring legacy. A car enthusiast, he owned classic cars, racecars, and participated in multiple drag racing competitions over the years. He enjoyed golf, college football, classic country music, and loved spending time in the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee with his wife Diane.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Summers Soter, his daughter-in-law, Jan Pollard Summers, and his grandson, Blake Summers.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Diane Walton Summers; children, Shannon Summers of Mobile, and Scott Summers (Barbra) of Birmingham; granddaughter-in-law, Amanda Summers of Birmingham; brothers-in-law, David (Karen) Walton of Daphne, and Mark (Pam) Walton of Mobile; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street in Mobile, with Pastor Lee Merck officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery. The family will receive visitation of friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
