

Gordon O’Neil Allen, 93, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 19, 2024 at his home in Mobile, Alabama. He was born to Busey and Grace Ray Allen on July 16, 1931 in Uriah, Alabama. Gordon graduated from Murphy High School, and went on to serve in the United States Army as a Sergeant during the Korean War conflict. He retired from International Paper Company after over 30 years of service.
Gordon was an amazing artist, and was talented in several different medias: painting, graphite, and woodworking. He also enjoyed making knives and going fishing. Gordon loved to watch sports, especially boxing and football. He was an avid Alabama fan (Roll Tide). Above all else, Gordon loved his family. He was a wonderful man, and will be greatly missed.
Gordon was preceded in death by his wife, Betty G. Allen; and his parents.
He is survived by his two daughters, Carolyn Lynn Johnson and Donna Annette Smith; two grandchildren, Kayley (Ethan) Richardson and Franklin O'Neil Smith; two sisters, Sara McCormack and Kathryn (Melvin) Seymour; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other cherished family and friends.
Visitation for Gordon will be held from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile, with a chapel service immediately following. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
