Mr. Gregg Harris Jr.

Longtime resident of Mobile, Gregg Harris Jr. was born on May 16, 1928 in Montgomery, Alabama and went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 10, 2016. He attended and graduated from the University of Alabama where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He was united in marriage to Jacqueline Elaine Blackwell on March 12, 1954 at Springhill Avenue Methodist Church. Gregg was a devoted husband, loving father and doting grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he loved and adored. His life was truly enriched by the love he received from his grandchildren. Upon graduating and serving in the United States Air Force, he joined his father to run their namesake furniture store in Crichton. After many successful years in retail he moved on to became a national sales representative for Serta Bedding Company until his retirement in 1993. He was preceded in death by his father, Gregg Harris, Sr.; mother, Love Epley Harris; and loving wife of 60 years, Jacqueline Elaine Blackwell Harris. Gregg is survived by his children, Gregg Harris, III (Emme) of Mobile, AL; David Harris (Lori) of Mobile, AL; Stephen Harris (Amanda) of Gulf Breeze, Florida; Grandchildren, Greggory Harris (Shelley); Hugh Harris (Anne Lyle); Mary Moran Harris, Chelsea Harris, David Harris, Jr., Stephen Harris, Jr (Ann Marie); Great Grandchildren, Cassidy Ann Harris, Brooks Langhoff Harris, Anne Frances Harris. The family will receive friends for visitation at Pine Crest Funeral Home, 1939 Dauphin Island Parkway, Mobile, AL. on Saturday, May 14th from 1-2pm with a funeral service to follow. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Spring Hill Baptist Church in his memory.
