
Mr. Butler was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran. He was an active member of Holy Spirit Anglican Church, and a Friend of Bill. After retiring from Illinois Central Gulf Railroad after many years of service, he continued working and loved to play golf. A beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, he will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his son, Harry Batte Butler, Jr. Survivors include three children, Harry B. (Bettye) Butler, Jacqueline B. Jackson and Cynthia B. Williams; four grandchildren, Benny Butler, Amy Tillman, Courtney Henry, and Summre Datama; nine great-grandchildren; devoted friends, Jerry, Jack, Debbie, and Joan Ellen; three nieces, one nephew, other relatives, and many friends.
Funeral services will be held from Holy Spirit Anglican Church on Friday, June 10, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be Thursday, June 9, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
