1921-2012
Henry Gerard Eddins passed away peacefully Thursday, May 10, 2012 at The Haven of Our Lady of Peace in Pensacola, Florida.
Henry was born February 12, 1921 in Frisco City, Alabama to Herman E. Eddins and Addie Hanks Eddins. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret Myers Eddins in 2003. They had been married for 62 years. After a 35 year career with the Federal Aviation Administration, he retired in 1976 and was a constant caregiver to his mother and other relatives. Henry was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church in Mobile, Alabama for over 50 years.
Henry was a quiet person, but was a role model for all of his family as he was truly a man of great wisdom. He loved to fish, raise flowers (especially camellias), but his main love was his family. He supported and encouraged all of his children, grandchildren, and even great grandchildren. He is survived by his son, Jimmy (Linda) Eddins and his daughters, Mary Kay Phillips, and Dianne (Carl) Morris along with his five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Hermione Tullis, two nieces and their families, and other relatives.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Haven of Our Lady of Peace, 1900 Summit Blvd, Pensacola, FL 32503. The family would like to express our sincere appreciation to everyone on the staff at The Haven for their compassion, understanding, love, and patience while caring for “Uncle Henry”.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 2:00pm at the Union Cemetery in Frisco City, Alabama.
