Herbert George Thoms passed away on December 29, 2025 at the age of 87. Herb was born and grew up in New Jersey, attending Rutgers University. He served in the Army as a career officer, with 2 tours in Vietnam and other countries, including 4 years in the Phillipines. He taught Military Science at USA and Computer Science at Spring Hill College. He was a member of the AACA and loved showing off his beloved 1968 Mercury Cougar. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy. Herb is survived by his children, Catherine Strickland (Arik) Stephen Thoms (Clarisse), three adult grandsons, Stephen, Chase (Courtney), and Trevor; great-granddaughter Caitlyn; and great-grandson, Chase.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at Radney Funeral Home-Mobile beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. The family will receive family and friends in the Rue Dauphine Parlor for a reception and visitation from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Pastor Mike Barbera will officiate the memorial service.
