Ida is also deeply missed by sisters Letha Little, Etta Reynolds, and Marilyn (Eastman) Weaver, as well as daughter-in-law Becky Berry, sister-in-law June Garner, a host of nieces and nephews, and her Woodbridge Baptist Church family, all of whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband Everett Garner, her daughter Alice Mills, son Tommy Garner, grandson Justin Mills, son-in-law Lynn Parkhill, brothers Roy Weaver and Massey Weaver, sisters Katie Evans, Mira Lewis, Virginia Roland, and Maggie Weaver, and brothers-in-law JD Garner and Clyde Garner.
Ida was a strong and proud woman who loved her Lord, her church, and her family, and those who were blessed to get past her tough exterior knew that. She took quiet pride in seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow successful lives for themselves, and she loved them with a full heart. You never had to wonder where you stood with Ida- she was going to tell you and you knew she meant it. She taught her children and their children the value of hard work and commitment to the community around them. Her faith was the center of her life, and her church family was her rock and her refuge. She loved old time gospel music, the Word of God, Ball Club, Sewing Club, and any and every opportunity to share a meal of fellowship with her church family.
There is dignity in the struggle of being human. There is unfathomable strength in rising to endure each day, and there is authentic beauty in a life that is tangled, and complicated, and not always easy. We will miss Ida and the many ways she touched our lives in raw, real, joyful, complicated ways- human, vulnerable, and perfectly imperfect. She was loved.
